Police have been cracking down on cyclists that are violating city/state cycling laws and are issuing warnings and tickets.
|
| Some of those laws are well known, but some are new to a lot of people. Due to the anticipated increase in the number of cyclists on the roads resulting in part from the increase in gas prices, police are being urged to step up the enforcement of the laws pertaining to cyclists as well as motorists. |
Some of the laws are obvious and have been around for a long time such as stopping at stop signs or traffic lights, yielding to pedestrians on crosswalks, using hand signals when turning and basically observing the laws that govern motorists. Some aren't as obvious such as - When riding at night, you must have a headlamp on the front of your bike that emits a white light visible from a distance of at least 500 feet and a red reflector on the rear of your bike. (we recommend a red flashing taillight) Below are a couple of links we suggest you check out. |
